So, you’ve found this little corner of the internet.
I started Dimly Lit Alleyway in 2013 because I wanted a place of my own to write about the films, stories and ideas that fascinated me. More than a decade later, that little corner of the internet has grown and changed along with me — and it’s become a home for much more than film writing.
I’m Snezana Kosanovic. A cinephile, horror nut, writer, and lifelong lover of stories in all their strange and wonderful forms.
I’ve always been drawn to books and films that sit a little outside the mainstream: horror, film noir, science fiction, avant-garde cinema, grindhouse, exploitation, B-movies, cult classics, beautiful failures and gloriously strange things that probably shouldn’t work but somehow do.
But cinema isn’t where the story ends.
Writing has gradually become just as important to me. What started as years of writing about other people’s stories has grown into writing my own. My short story Fractured Continuum will be published in the next SNAFU anthology from Cohesion Press. I’m also working on my first novel, my first screenplay, and a non-fiction book that began with a question I couldn’t quite let go of.
In 2025, I came second in the Mayday Hills Ghost Story Competition at Asylum Fest, after being a finalist two years running. It was an important moment for me — not because it suddenly made me a writer, but because it made something I’d been quietly working towards feel tangible.
And that’s where I am now.
Dimly Lit Alleyway is evolving alongside me.
You’ll still find the movies that brought people here in the first place, but the Alleyway has become a broader creative space: a home for my writing, film commentary, curated public-domain cinema screenings, old-time radio, and whatever strange rabbit hole catches my attention next.
There are no rules about what belongs here beyond one simple one:
It has to interest me.
If it’s strange, unsettling, beautiful, fascinating, overlooked, ridiculous, thought-provoking — or just a bloody good story — chances are I’ll want to talk about it.
This has never been about trying to sound like everyone else.

Dimly Lit Alleyway is an independent personal creative project. It isn’t affiliated with any other person, publication, promotional organisation or commercial entity unless explicitly stated.
The site has been evolving since 2013 and continues to grow as I have the time to develop it. Some things are polished. Some things are still finding their shape. That’s part of the fun.
